About the artist
Ophelia Zady is a practicing artist in Central Florida who graduated with a BFA in Studio Art with a painting specialty and a minor in art education from the University of Central Florida in 2024. She taught art to children ages 3-13 for 5 years before returning to University with the goals of improving their professional practice and becoming a college art professor. Ophelia creates mindscapes that depict her dissociation, trauma, and psychosis in the form of detailed large scale acrylic paintings.
Ophelia takes inspiration from these dark places and transforms them while enjoying the healing process of creating something bright and invite the viewer to have fun with her on this journey. She hopes to help others by humanizing the complex reality of undergoing treatment in the mental health system, learning to resolve her trauma and assisting the next generation of artists achieve her goals through teaching.
